Our Story - Why Ohflo was created

Ohflo was created from lived experience, love, and the determination to make things better for the next generation of girls.

When I got my first period, I was just nine years old. I was younger than everyone around me, and I felt embarrassed, scared, and completely alone. No one else I knew was going through it at that age, and I didn’t know how to talk about it or ask for help.

Growing up, life was a little tough financially. Some months we didn’t have the essentials I needed, so I often hid the fact that I had my period because I didn’t want to burden my family. It became something I carried quietly, with worry and shame, instead of confidence and understanding.

One experience at primary school stayed with me for years. Some boys went through my bag, found my pads, and ran around the schoolyard showing everyone. The attention was overwhelming. At just ten years old, I suddenly became the focus — That experience created anxiety that followed me well into my teenage years.

It wasn’t until my mid to late teens, when other girls began talking openly about their periods, that I finally started to feel less alone.

When I became a mother, I knew one thing for certain — my daughters would not grow up feeling the same fear, shame, or isolation that I did. I wanted them to feel prepared, supported, and proud of their bodies, not embarrassed by them.

At the same time, I’ve always loved creating beautiful, personalised gifts — thoughtful items that make people feel seen and cared for. That passion, combined with my experiences growing up, inspired the creation of Ohflo.

Ohflo is more than a box of products. It is a message of support, confidence, and care. It exists to help families start conversations, reduce fear, and give girls the tools they need to feel safe and prepared during an important milestone in their lives.

Every box is created with the hope that no girl feels alone, embarrassed, or unprepared, and that every parent or caregiver has a simple way to show love, reassurance, and understanding.
